Taking card payments

Your clients can pay an invoice by card from the portal, and the money goes straight into your own Stripe account.

Professional plan.

Connecting Stripe

Settings → Payments → Connect Stripe. You are sent to Stripe, you sign in or sign up, and you come back connected.

It is a Stripe Standard account, which means it is genuinely yours:

  • Your account, your payouts, your payout schedule.
  • Your disputes and your chargebacks.
  • Your Stripe dashboard, with your own login.

SimpliWork never holds a credential of yours. The handshake gives us an account identifier, and that is all there is to lose.

We never see the card

When your client pays, they type their card into a page run by Stripe, not by us. The number, the expiry date and the code on the back never reach SimpliWork and are never stored here.

That matters to you as well as to them: handling card numbers yourself comes with rules you would have to follow and paperwork you would have to keep. Because the card only ever touches Stripe, none of that lands on you — and there is no setting anybody can get wrong to change it.

What the client sees

On a sent, unpaid invoice in the portal there is a Pay button. It takes them to Stripe's own payment page, they pay, and they come back.

The payment records itself against the invoice. Nobody has to key it in, and the invoice moves to paid — or partly paid, if they paid part of it.

Fees

Stripe's, on Stripe's terms, taken from your account. SimpliWork adds nothing to the card rate and takes no cut of your invoices.

Disconnecting

Settings → Payments → Disconnect. This deauthorizes at Stripe's end as well as forgetting the account here, so SimpliWork stops appearing among the connected applications in your Stripe dashboard.

Invoices already paid are unaffected. Their payment records stay.

If it will not connect

"Payments are not set up" — the workspace is on Standard, or Stripe Connect has not been configured. Check the plan first.

Stripe asks for more details — Stripe requires business information before it will release payouts. That conversation is between you and Stripe; SimpliWork is not in it. The connection works meanwhile, but the money sits until Stripe is satisfied.

Not to be confused with

What you pay us for seats, which runs through a different Stripe account entirely and lives under Plans and seats. Different direction, different account, no shared state.
